The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) has issued The Telecommunication Directive 2 of 2017 on 1 Dec 2017. This new directive amends the earlier dispositions taken by the Provision 3.12 of the Telecommunication Directive 1 of 2014 .

Indeed, the new directive aims to better regulate the import and sale of radio / telecommunications equipment by facilitating access to the Mauritian market. Particularly in point 5.9, which deals with the import and marketing of electronic devices with only the built-in BT function.

For electronic devices with only the built-in BT function, they will no longer be subject to approval in Mauritius. (See picture below)

As a result, any importer or manufacturer will simply have to satisfy the requirements of the label and the conformity to the standards applicable to his device as established in Mauritius

Approval Team Nigeria, with its network of African coverage of 45+ countries is able to assist, for certification, any manufacturer and equipment suppliers for their type approval needs opening the doors of the Mauritian market. We get the equipment of our partners approved within a reasonable period of 4-5 weeks.

    Thank you for your news.
If electronic devices with only the built-in BT function is not subject to approval ICTA, does it mean it’s voluntary?
If our client insists type approval for BT only device, is it allowed to apply for ICTA?

    • Dear Jenny

As mentioned, this provision is about devices with BT only.

However, if you want, we could submit an application for your product (with all required documents) in order to get an official exemption letter from ICTA.

      Regards,
